I was inspired by a small, often overlooked sign, discreetly positioned beneath Yosemite's El Capitan. This painting titled, "Don't Feed the Deer" underscores the interplay of beauty and strength in nature and the balance essential for the well-
being of our wildlife. I give a nod to the easily missed sign along with an unconventional color palette which serves as a deliberate observation of the man-made world meeting with the natural one. The artificial colors echo the intrusion of the unnatural into nature. I use this color palette and graphic to emphasize the need for signs and guidelines to encourage responsible and respectful interactions.
